This is a fabulous photo and I know I commented on it, I cannot remember how the origional looked, but this is now fantastic, The larger image and the moon are so clear and I think you must have the winner here. I have added it to my favourites.
Very well composed and good luck. Pam

David you are a pain in the ****. When I first saw this I couldn't get the tune "By the light of the silvery moon" out of my head. Just looked again and the tune's back and I've still got about 8 hours to go in the office. Joking aside I think this is the best entry I've seen so far. I would love to have this on my wall. VBOL.
Dave.

It's quite surreal now, resembles the dawn of time. Lovely golden tones.
cc. I would have added some golden pathway on the water, just to complete. That, however, is a presonal choice.

It is superb - and I am so glad that my comment helped - always risky but I do say what I think (or if I am in doubt I stay silent - if I can). Jen's observation re the pathway is a tricky one as this is very still water and I think that the reflection would be as you have it, although perhaps ..... No it is perfect!! Well done Torres and I really hope it does well - this deserves a win.

Superb composition David. Love the low light shot that has to be enlarged to appreciate fully. Superb reflections and title. Great silhouetted detail in the bare trees and the graduated colour of the sky. Good vantage point and perspective. So peaceful and atmospheric. Could see this as a book cover or CD sleeve and also on a scenic calendar but I'd have it enlarged then framed and on a wall in my house.
Hadn't had a chance to comment on the original so saves me having to comment twice.
Looks like a winner to me. I've stopped giving stars unless something really jumps out at me and this sure has.
All the very best.

hi all, thanks for comments or RE-comments in some cases
Jen and Angie - i did try with a ripple effect and a pathway but it looked out of place as rest of pond was so calm that night. Also tried with a smaller moon reflection but that looked odd too. so just settled for this. I've learnt enough for one morning!
david - wotcha doin on finepix at the office?!? you can have the original if u like but its a 14mb file

This is so lovely and perfect for the theme, well captured, I thought I had commented on this one earlier in the comp. TVBOL regards Ann
Also I would like to say that I am NO longer going to give Stars on a comment, it seems to cause too much animosity among members, SORRY, Fuji don't take any notice anyway, they choose their own. I have been a member on this site since it first began, but now its just not the same anymore.

Beautiful night shot. Love the colour, the reflections and the reeds.
In Wikipedia it says "the expression harvest moon which is recorded since 1706 and indicates the full moon within a fortnight of the autumnal equinox (21 of September). " So very appropriate.

hi all, thanks for comments, as always.
For anyone interested, as explained on the first entry, the harvest moon is the full moon which falls closest to the september equinox. It is always low down in the sky , giving it a reddish tint due to the atmospheric conditions we see it in. Being so low, it also gives the impression of being larger than normal.
traditionally it was used by farmers to work late into the night, working by the moonlight - hence, Harvest Moon. Its also handy to sing about.
Last year the Harvest Moon fell on 4th October, this year is 23rd September. So it does not fall on same day and can be as much as 4 weeks difference over the years.
So get your cameras ready and hope for cloudless evening on 23rd

gorgeous, I know a few folk will be annoyed that its an 'altered image' but even they cant deny it looks smucking ****. It must have taken hours of eye straining work to get this one done. Im lucky, the song this one puts in my head is by Runrig, Harvest Moon.
So long and thanks for all the fish
