My Fuji HS10 Version 1.03 Update! Fuji denies there is such an update!

I sent my camera away for Fuji to look at a couple of problems I have experienced with my HS10(still a fine camera!).

This was the second time I have had to return it to Fuji UK.

It came back with a version 3 Firmware update on it,(see screenshot photo),which Fuji now deny even exists!

The camera is now even better, although the "low battery" symbol is now coming on again, far too early.

This had been fixed once by Fuji, but this latest Firmware update has made this problem return!

I posted comments on various Internet HS10 user/feedback sites that a new firmware update was apparently now available, although not on Fuji's UK HS10 update list, and any interested owners would have to contact Fuji direct.

But they're told Firmware version 1.03 does not exist!

I am waiting for a response from Fuji, and will keep you posted!

First, Not a blog.

But second, I also have V1.03

I Have never done an update myself so this must have come with the camera when I bought it ( 2 and a bit months ago)

Thanks for that Chris!

Did you buy your camera new?

Because another commentator has stated that this is specific Firmware installed by Fuji engineers, when a camera has been returned for repair.

Firmware,V1.03,doesn't exist, according to Fuji UK,(and Fuji Germany)and therefore is NOT available!

I think they should clarify this  to all interested HS10 owners,on the Fuji UK website,as a lot of people will now be contacting them about this "new" update, following my various Internet posts!

Incidentally,as you have the same Firmware,is your "low battery" warning symbol also coming on prematurely, although the batteries are still fresh?

Interesting...I just got this camera (USA) a month or so ago.  Excuse my ignorance but where in the menus do you find the firmware version? I looked through the manual and couldn't find any reference to the firmware version or where to find it.  Maybe I just missed it?

I'm used to shooting with Nikon DSLR's with rechargable batteries and the Fuji HS10 does seems to devour batteries very quickly.  I just thought it was normal for the type of battery and the electronic viewfinder.

I think why some people think the batteries don't last long,is because everybody when they get a new camera, particularly like the HS10,can't resist playing with it!

Also,I think a lot of new owners have previously owned a compact camera, which are much less demanding on batteries,(which are normally high capacity lithium rechargeables, which a longer lasting anyway than NiMh AAs)

There's a lot to experiment with the HS10,but it's understandable, and a very useful learning excercise.

Just taking photographs, the batteries should last for about 2-300  photos(rechargeable AAs),which is about average for this type of camera.

If they don't,Fuji will check your camera free for you,as my camera suffered from the "low battery" symbol coming on far too soon,(this seemed a problem with some earlier HS10s),and this was rectified free by the Fuji engineers.

Ring the Fuji Helpline,if you have any problems,as they are very helpful.

PS I had  a Nikon  D40 previously, and the battery IS very long lasting, but as you say, superzooms are more power hungry.
