My Fuji HS10 Version 1.03 Update! Fuji denies there is such an update!

I sent my camera away for Fuji to look at a couple of problems I have experienced with my HS10(still a fine camera!).
This was the second time I have had to return it to Fuji UK.
It came back with a version 3 Firmware update on it,(see screenshot photo),which Fuji now deny even exists!
The camera is now even better, although the "low battery" symbol is now coming on again, far too early.
This had been fixed once by Fuji, but this latest Firmware update has made this problem return!
I posted comments on various Internet HS10 user/feedback sites that a new firmware update was apparently now available, although not on Fuji's UK HS10 update list, and any interested owners would have to contact Fuji direct.
But they're told Firmware version 1.03 does not exist!
I am waiting for a response from Fuji, and will keep you posted!

Version 1.03 is the Fuji engineers firmware. It's not available to download.

hello, I'm French and I bought new HS10 in Hong Kong.
I wanted to update the firmware and I also was surprised to see that it is v 1.03. Is this a camera back from repair?

Yes,and it can now be updated via Fuji's website.
It just corrects a few things in the HS10's operation,i.e the battery warning light was coming on far too soon, the focussing was improved slightly, also some HS10's weren't being recognised by the computer, and images wouldn't download correctly,or at all!
Various other minor functions as well
It certainly worth installing,if you still have V1.01 on your HS10.
These updates don't make a massive difference, but all improvements are to be welcomed.
My HS10 was improved, although I found it was still was slow to use, compared to the Panasonic FZ45,or FZ100,particularly when using the flash.
The Panasonics Superzooms are much quicker, almost as quick in some things,as a DSLR.
The new Canon SX30 Superzoom, has a similar failing to the HS10,i.e slow shot to shot times but,if you don't mind waiting a bit longer between your shots, they're still great cameras.
Best regards,
Doug

Can't wait to see what the elusive(so far) new HS20 is like!
If it as quick as the Panasonic FZ100(I couldn't put up any longer with the slow operation of the HS10!),and the picture quality of the newFuji EXR sensor is as good as they say, plus that great lens, then the HS20 could be the ultimate all-in-one,although my new FZ100 is a superb bit of kit,and will take some beating!
We shall see!
Best regards,
Doug

Just bought HS20 thought it might be better than my HS10 but where has the motion removal gone to and and the multi shot frame 2 of the good features of HS10 the only betterment I can see is the mega pixel upgrade unless the above features have been re-named any ideas . Ronbe

The motion remover is no great loss,as I could never get it to work properly on my HS10,and the multi-frame capture is just another gimmick,in my opinion.
The new HS20 offers much more than the HS10,good as it is,or was,and the increased speed of the camera's operation should make it more appealing to the more experienced user.
The new EXR sensor has improved the picture quality, particularly in low light, and now you can use an stand alone flash gun on the new hotshoe.making it even more attractive as DSLR alternative.
The new HS20 owner needs to study the user manual thoroughly, and learn to use the camera properly, before jumping to any ill-considered,hasty conclusions, and he won't be disappointed!
Best regards,
Doug
